Notable Impacts of Stephen’s Music

*“I Need You Now” (1983) by Sinnamon is a classic New York club anthem whose acappella and synth production became foundational for house, garage, and rave. Its “Fierce Reprise” mix made it a go-to sampling source, used by artists like 808 State and others. The track has been sampled in 100+ songs (per WhoSampled), with widely reused vocals by Bernard Fowler, (Peech Boys, Rolling Stones), cementing its long-lasting influence on 90s dance music.

**“Let Me Do You” (1984) by NV is remembered as a defining 80s club anthem, especially in NYC venues like Paradise Garage, where its electro-funk and early house groove made it a staple. Its lasting impact is largely credited to Shep Pettibone’s innovative mixes, which helped shape the punchier, high-tech dance sound that would dominate the decade. The track’s influence extended into the 90s, with its vocals sampled in Run Tings’ “Back Again,” connecting it to early UK hardcore and jungle scenes. As a one-off release with no follow-up album, the original 12-inch vinyl on Sire Records has become a prized collectible among DJs and 80s dance enthusiasts.

Stephen’s most recent projects include work for his own publishing company, Stevette Music, Inc. The company’s credited works include, “I Need You Now (Moplen Edit)” by Luca Locatelli, the 30th Anniversary re-mastered release of this timeless masterpiece. An album titled “Unfinished Business” by Cbatch & Herring, a collection of songs written over the last several decades that were recorded in and out of the studio, and the following EPs by C’batch & Herring, "Send You My Love” and Found What’s Right For Me (Back In Control Of My Life)” by FedUp “(Mi Wan Yu Fi) Rock Dat Pum Pum” snd “Why Would You Do Me Bad?” by T'Amber.

‍ ‍Currently, Stephen is working on and planning to release a series of collections of his music through Stevette Music, Inc. that reflect his lifelong musical journey by way of his varied musical influences.
